20.35 Africa is pleased to announce its call for submissions to Volume Nine of the 20.35 Africa Poetry Anthology Series, guest-edited by Akosua Zimba-Afiriyie Hwedie and Antony Fangary, alongside 20.35 Africa editors Ebenezer Agu, Precious Okpechi, and JK Anowe.
An anthology by and for living African poets means celebrating the current moment, the lush and vibrant landscape of what African poetics is negotiating, while also looking back and paying homage to the great writers who walked.
As an intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience in various editorial tasks, develop social media content, work closely with our senior editors and learn about the scope of operations within our small non-profit literary organization.
Through our New Poet series, 20.35 Africa has worked to promote and give individual visibility to young, up-and-coming poets from the African continent. We have made a few changes to the guidelines and urge you to read them carefully before nominating poets for the series.
At 20.35 Africa, we seek to build towards the future of African letters that our readers, contributors, and staff deserve – one that uplifts living African poets from all over the continent and the diaspora. This effort is sustained by a committed team whose work is mostly pro bono. 20.35 Africa has thus thrived over the years through the sheer passion of its members, who share an understanding of the imperative position of their work. The other half of that work is you and we hope you will help us continue building into the future with your contributions.
